The record dates Bulb Fields to 1883, the first year of the first of the five periods this site uses. It is also the thinnest year of the ten after 1881 and 1882: nine works in the whole catalogue carry it, against 135 for 1888.
What the record gives
The canvas measures 66 by 48.9 centimetres, an upright, and it is held by the National Gallery of Art in Washington. That collection holds two works here, dated 1883 and 1889 — one from each end of the arc. The measured palette reads as yellow.
