Who publishes this site

vincentvangoghpaintings.com is published by Zundert Editions. This policy describes what the site records about a visit, what it does not, and what happens to anything you send to letters@vincentvangoghpaintings.com. It covers this domain only.

What this site actually does

Vincent van Gogh Paintings is a reference catalogue of one painter's work. There is no account to create, no profile, no saved list, no comment thread and no mailing list. The site does not ask who is reading it and has no means of finding out.

No analytics script and no advertising tag runs on these pages. Nothing records which works a visitor looks at, and no advertising network is told about it.

Artwork images are served by the museums and repositories that hold the paintings, so opening a page discloses your IP address to those hosts, as with any page carrying a remote image. Zundert Editions does not control or receive their logs.

Server logs

Like any web server, the hosting provider records a line for each request: the IP address it came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. Those logs exist so that failures can be diagnosed and abuse can be blocked. They are not used to build a profile, are not combined with anything else, and are not sold or shared.

Hosting and image delivery are provided by third parties acting on our instructions. They process request data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Attribution enquiries, and why they are deleted

Mail to letters@vincentvangoghpaintings.com is read by the compiler and kept only while the question is open. This particular catalogue receives a steady stream of one kind of message: a reader who believes they own an unrecorded van Gogh, writing with photographs, family history and sometimes scans of identity or probate documents.

This site is not an authentication service and cannot become one. Material of that sort is not published, not retained beyond the reply that says so, and not forwarded to a museum, a dealer or an auction house. Identity and probate documents are deleted on receipt. Please do not send them.

Asking what we hold

Because there is no account, the only thing that can be held about an identifiable person is an email they sent. You may ask what that is, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to letters@vincentvangoghpaintings.com. Deletion is the default outcome once a question is closed, so in most cases there is nothing left to delete.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything material enough to matter will be described rather than slipped in.
