What the record gives
The canvas measures 49.5 x 64 cm — smaller than most of the Arles works, which cluster around 73 x 92 cm — and it is held by the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne. The measured palette returns blue as the single dominant family.
Why the versions matter
The differences between the four are recorded in the titles themselves: one adds women washing at the water's edge, another a road running alongside. Those are the painter's own variations on a fixed motif, and they are visible in the record without any need to interpret the pictures. A chronology that flattened them into a single entry would report one bridge painting from 1888 where the record reports four, in four sizes, in four collections.
